Stupa House – Warsaw Diamond Way Buddhist Centre, 2011
The Warsaw Diamond Way Buddhist centre, known as “Stupa House” (due to its similarity in shape to certain Buddhist monuments) is one of the biggest urban centres of the network of 600+ Diamond Way centres and groups founded by Lama Ole Nydahl worldwide. It also fulfils the role of a national centre for Poland. Here we highlight a little of the Centre’s history, accomplishments and current activities.

Lama Ole Nydahl visited the UK from 8-10 November 2011 to teach in Manchester, Exeter and London. Here is a report of these exciting three days. Click on any of the thumbnails to enlarge the image.
Lama Ole Nydahl arrived in London St Pancras International by Eurostar from Belgium, having already taught in Paris, Rotterdam and Brussels during the previous days on this year’s “Channel Tour”, an annual part of Lama Ole Nydahl’s teaching schedule in which he is invited by his centres in the countries along the English Channel – France, Belgium, the Netherlands and the UK. Typically this tour is made via coach, with a full travelling group of about 60 students who, as well as attending Lama Ole’s public lectures, use the opportunity to spend more time together with their lama and sangha friends, strengthen connections and use the long coach rides for personal questions and interviews. On this leg of the journey though, Lama Ole Nydahl took the Eurostar to make enough time to visit the Diamond Way Buddhist Group in St Albans.
Lama Ole Nydahl will teach in London, Exeter and Manchester this November.
This will be Lama Ole Nydahl’s 26th visit to London. He will teach about “Buddhism in the Modern World” at the Camden Centre in Euston. He will also have public lectures in Manchester and Exeter.

In November, Lama Ole Nydahl will come on a UK tour, starting in Manchester, going on to Exeter in the south of England and finishing up in the capital, London. In each city, Lama Ole Nydahl will give public lectures and visit the local Buddhist centre. Lama Ole Nydahl founded the Diamond Way Buddhist meditation centres in Manchester, Exeter, and London.

Set up in 1973 as one of the first Buddhist centres in Western Europe, the Copenhagen Buddhist centre has a well-established place in the cultural landscape of its local community.

The Budapest Diamond Way Buddhist centre is the biggest urban centre of the over 600 Diamond Way Buddhist centres founded by Lama Ole Nydahl around the world. Because of its size and location, it also fulfills the role of an international centre for the central European, eastern European, and Balkan region. Here we highlight a little of the Centre’s history, accomplishments and current activities.
Intense concentration is needed to paint the fine details of the Buddha's eyes
When Lama Ole Nydahl visited London in September 2010 and blessed the newly-filled Buddha statues (see this blog entry) he recommended that we “open their eyes”. So earlier in November 2010, our London Buddhist Centre was transformed into a workshop, where a group of friends spent a long weekend working with these centre statues as well as a collection of smaller statues belonging to individuals. This delicate “eye-opening” process involves painting the heads and faces of the statues with gold and specially prepared paint, as well as adding precious stones in places such as the crowns and ornaments of certain forms. Leo Grzyb was invited from Slovakia to London to guide the workshop. Leo has spent several years studying traditional Kagyu Buddhist art under the close tutelage of Denzong Norbu, probably the greatest living master of the Karma Gardri style of thangka painting who received its transmission directly from the 16th Karmapa. Diamond Mind and Loving Eyes Statues in the London Diamond Way Buddhist Centre
We’d like to share some impressions from the filling and blessing of the beautiful Buddha statues in our London Buddhist Centre. The filling took place back in February (19-21) 2010 when we had the privilege to host our great friends from Germany – Dagmar, Steffi and Sebastian – who are trained in the traditional art of statue filling. The statues are of Loving Eyes (Tib.Chenrezig), Diamond Mind (Tib. Dorje Sempa), and Green Liberatrice (Skt. Tara), as well as one of the 16th Karmapa holding the Black Crown.
